BaroShield Privacy Policy

BaroShield is a weather sensitive migraine warning app made by Picklestudio. It reads the barometer in your phone to detect rapid drops in air pressure and warn you before an attack. This page explains what the app does with your information. In short: your health data stays on your phone.

Who we are

Picklestudio is the data controller for the small amount of data described below. You can reach us at support@picklestudio.no.

What BaroShield stores on your device

The following is saved only in the app's own storage on your phone. It is never uploaded to us and we cannot see it:

• Your pain log: date and time, intensity, which parts of the head you mark, and any note you type.
• Your pressure history: the readings the app takes, including readings taken while the app is closed.
• Your settings: sensitivity, alert preferences, reminder settings, language.
• Your calibrated places, which are a name you type, such as "Home", together with the air pressure measured there. No address and no position is stored.
• The learning model's own samples, which are derived from the pain log and the pressure history above.

There is no account, no sign in, no cloud sync and no server that holds your diary. If you uninstall the app, all of it is deleted with the app.

What leaves your device

BaroShield has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. It sends no usage events and no crash reports of its own.

One thing does leave the device: the subscription. We use RevenueCat to manage purchases, and your payment is processed by the App Store or Google Play. That means the following is processed on our behalf when you buy or restore a subscription:

• The purchase receipt or purchase token and your subscription status.
• An anonymous app user ID that RevenueCat generates for your installation. It is not your name, your email address or your account, and we never set it to anything that identifies you.
• Basic technical information such as the device type and operating system version.
• A timestamp of when the app last reached RevenueCat.

We never see your payment card details. Those are handled entirely by Apple or Google. This purchase information is used only to provide the subscription, and it is not linked to your identity, not used to track you across other apps or websites, and not sold or shared with anyone for advertising. RevenueCat acts as our processor; their own privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Nothing you record in the pain log, and no reading from your barometer, ever leaves your phone. The app never asks for your location and does not request a location permission.

Permissions the app asks for, and why

• Motion and barometer: to measure air pressure, and to tell a weather change apart from a change in altitude when you are moving. Motion data is read on the device only.
• Notifications: to deliver pressure warnings and your logging reminder. These are local notifications scheduled by the app on your phone.
• Start at boot and keep the device awake briefly (Android): so background pressure readings continue after a restart. Nothing is transmitted.

Backups and export

You can export a copy of your data as a file or as a PDF report. That file is created on your phone and handed to the share sheet, so where it goes is entirely your choice. We never receive a copy. If you import a backup on another device, that file is read on that device and stored there.

How long we keep anything

We keep no personal data about you at all, so there is nothing for us to retain. Purchase records are retained by Apple, Google and RevenueCat according to their own policies, and by us only as aggregated transaction reports that do not identify you. On your phone, pressure readings are trimmed automatically as newer readings arrive, and you can delete any diary entry at any time.

Your rights

Because your health data never reaches us, the simplest way to see, correct or erase it is inside the app or by deleting the app, which erases all of it. For the limited purchase information described above, you can ask us for a copy, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its processing by writing to support@picklestudio.no. If you are in the European Economic Area and you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to your local supervisory authority, in Norway Datatilsynet.

Children

BaroShield is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect any personal data from children.

Medical disclaimer

BaroShield is an aid, not a medical device. Air pressure changes may be associated with migraine, and the app provides no guarantee of prediction or prevention. Always speak to a doctor about your migraine. This does not affect your privacy rights, and it is repeated in our Terms of Use.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a future version ever sends something to a server that it does not send today, we will say so here and in the app before that version is released.
